Letters of Asphalt

The letters of asphalt
written on the walls,
black &white
like an ultimatum for war
gripping the broken soul,
like the tremors of an earthquake

She,moonstruck,
on promises and lies,
runs through the lonely streets,
taking her only mate by her side.

Deranged to the core,
she hides her face,
to let go of the moonlight
to let go of it's shine.

She sings the melody
of unspoken words,
words, that had led to wars.
Mere words, that can turn a dead,
cold with fear and darkness.

Yet she hangs on to
the letters of asphalt
like an ultimatum
to find the light beyond the tunnel.
